sub turns off but amp stays on

hello all. I have 3 RF p3s hooked up to a boss onyx amp. Which is connected to an RF 1 farad cap. I have a kenwood excelon head unit and a crunch drive amp for mids and highs. The problem I'm having is when I turn on the car my cap reads 14.5ish. But as I turn my bass knob to the boss amp the subs kick in but for only a second, then they shut off when the cap reads under 9. I checked all wiring and fuses. The subs shut off but the amp stays on not going into protect mode. I have installed tons of amps and subwoofers and never ran into this problem. Today I charged my battery and now the can reads under 6 and the subs don't go on. Please help and offer opinions. Thanks.

Your voltage is way........ too low your amplifier is going in into protect mode because it can't operate under that voltage.. You need another battery and get rid of the cap it does more harm than good... Get at least a 60 amp hr rated battery for a 2nd batt. Should have 0 issues with my suggestion. Another option is to turn the gain down to the point where it wont go under 12 volts which from the sound of it would be almost no gain. Amplifiers are not meant to operate under 12 volts and neither is your car for that matter. You can fry your cars CPU by killing your voltage! Would you rather spend 3000 on a new CPU board for your car and tons on fuses or get a 150 dollar group 31 sealed battery?

From a 2nd read get a new battery.... If it reads 6 volts after you charged it one of the cells went bad....

caps are **** get rid of it

I was able to figure it all out. I took my time and did a complete walk through. It turned out to be the wiring from my battery to my fuse. The wire was 8 guage but my power wire is 4 guage. So I changes my fuse holder and all wiring is 4 guage. Not a single problem since. Thanks for the info, and I will be putting a second battery and ditching the cap.

What is your budget? With being exposed to Rain.. I would recommend looking at a marine grade SAS Bazooka for the sub stage
