sub roasted

There are a number of reasons your sub could have blown. Were the gains set properly? Did you have bass boost on? The new amp may have just been too much power for the sony sub, sony doesn't make very reliable car audio equipment which is what I think reed dollaz is getting at

I had the same thing happen with a pioneer sub(the walmart ones next to the xplodes). Smoke from the port, then amp goes to protect when using the sub. I'm guessing when you burn the coil it drops the impedance lower than the amp can handle. btw, I almost thew up also from the smell of the smoke, no joke, burned coils are intense:eek: Just do what I did and buy a type r.

guessing you got the subs cuz there where red and cheap and matched your car color ? anyways i guess you know why there called xplod lol

type arghhh? I was debating that. Im looking into the tc sounds line up to. or maybe even a cw-15. yea jus wondering if this has happened before. I wonda why the impdeance would drop? thats wack. Time to buy a new moofer. thanks for the help. and flames. lol
You wont be disappointed with TC sounds. There woofers are built very well, and are well known for there great SQ, low distortion, and still gets very loud IMO. FI car audio also have some good woofers.

The CW 15 is an even better idea, and would probably last you quite a while...plus if you blow it you can recone it yourself. Its way better to rely on yourself than anyone else //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Yo snoop first question i wana know is how well do those subs hit the lows? i know you had the 12, i dont know if you tested the 15. i think you said somewhere you did but i only saw the videos of the 12. And yea im really considering the cw 15 now just because theres a little tendency that i wish i could recone the sub. how much do their recones cost? (i guess that the second question?) i was thinking about buying one form hifisoundconnection.com, would it still have a valid warranty or should i call massive audio? thanks if ya answer. someone get the snoop signal.
I saw the snoop signal //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fro.gif.c695f1f814b01c4ad99fe7f8cccadd29.gif

The CW 15's are great on the lows as well, I personally like both the CW and the DMX lines....Massive is a seriously overlooked manufacturer in the audio world - which is a shame for the people who could benefit from using their stuff. The recones are $80, and Low-Hz is also a dealer for Massive as well...you can contact kevin at lowhz01@yahoo.com for current pricing.
