Sub Proximity to Rear Enclosure Panel Question

I am wanting to put a 12" NVX NSW122v2 driver into the spare tire space of my car.

I have 24"W x 24"L x 8"D of room leaving me with 1.9 cu/ft. with only 6.5" of speaker depth.

(hmmm? I might go two 10's)

I am not using this dimension for the sub, this is just the room I have to use and the box will be ported.

Fitting the speaker is not the issue but I am wondering if the speaker only physically being 1" from the rear panel will effect performance?

On a second note: If I run a port from front to rear, how far away from the back panel does the tube or baffle need to be, and, if it runs in an 'L' shape, is that ok?

Cheers,

u want port to have couple inches of space.. most peeps say 1/2 width of port but if it's a 2" slot port i'd say 2"..
Any recommendation on the distance the speaker needs to be from the rear panel?

Thanks for your input for the port.

man i'd want at least an inch but i sold 100's of truck boxes where magnet was almost on the back of box and they worked fine but it's not good for cooling..

You should have 7.25 inches of clearance. That nvx is 5 inches deep from top mount. You are clear there. Being 1 inch away shouldn't really have much of an impact. Depending on the size of the port I would consider porting out the face of the box.
