sub placement???

I know newbie question you here a million time...

I have a toyota yaris sedan, the back seats fold down....

I want to mount my sub on the side of the trunk to save space and to allow me to still use the fold down option of my seats, would i still get enough bass into the cab, or should I just build a box, and fire it directly into the cab through the fold down opening ( thus loosing the ability to carry larger items)
