Sub Ideas, 600 watts RMS or under

Thinking of getting a new 12" sub and amp to run it. I don't want to go over 600 watts because I really don't want to upgrade the auto's electrical.

Thinking of the Alpine MRD 605:

I've read great things about the pioneers.

For great budget subs with that much power i have to suggest CVR's, but not so much for your tastes i suppose.

anyway out of the two you suggested i like the BMs.

I don't know if you're on budget but in that power range i would go with a

12 JLW6v2 if you have the money.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I will do research on those that I am less familiar with.

As for the IDMAX, that would have certainly been one of the top contenders if I had 1K to put to them but I have not really the IDMAX much consideration for fear I would be underpowering it. Perhaps someone has experience feeding it 600 watts more or less?

From what i hear its you will be hard pressed to beat the SQ of a RSd 12/12d. And it falls in the RMS you are looking for and its dirt cheap. $80 is hard to beat.

The BM is great, if you plan on porting your sub, definately go for a BM

Even if you seal it, it'll sound **** good.

With what you have listed there, that G-5 will sound beautiful with that Alpine amp. That amp is a beauty! That amp has actually be tested higher rms ratings but Alpine list it a 600 rms. More like 650-675 rms.

fyi you can probably go 1000 - 1500 rms without having to upgrade a new alt...

big 3 and it should be ok...
