Sub box questions

I'm trying to build a ported box for an RE *** and i have the specs but i was wondering does it want the box to be 2cu ft after port and sub displacement or before. So the question is, is that the gross internal volume or the net volume. I was also wondering if all manufacturers give their specs like this.

2 cubes is net. This is the cubic feet you have internally after all port, sub, bracing displacements.

In other words, 2 cubes is how much your sub has to use for itself. If that makes sense.

Yes. Any recommendation from a manufacturer or any professional builder/designer would be "net" volume. Some companies to offer more in-depth enclosure information but most do not.
