Sub and amp for Firebird

Hey guys, I got done installing some tweeters for a friend of mine in his 1998 Firebird. Anyway, he has two Audiobahn 12's and some SPL 1200 amp. I have been trying to talk him to getting a different setup. It sounds like ***. I have never even heard of SPL until I saw his amp. I swear his amp is atleast 17 inches long and is a 1200 watt max amp. Anyway, so I talked him into overhauling his system.

I am thinking of setting him up with a set of Type R Components with an MTX 342 amp. I was thinking of an RE HC 15 or an Alpine Type R 15. He wants to go with a single 15 setup. I remember seeing a nice fiberglassed enclosure for a Camaro. I have never messed with fiberglass so I dont know if I want to venture on that far with my skills yet. He wants to go ported, but I doubt there will be enough room to make an enclosure for a ported box. Amp. Well its undecided at the momment. What do you all think? Oh and his pricerange is undecided, but Im sure he doesnt want to spend anymore than $500 for the amp and sub.
