Sub Amp Gets HOT (2 dead amps also :( )

Alright so Im thinking this may be an issue with my RCA preouts on my deck but Im not sure and Im pretty ****ing pissed cause my cactus 5kw died, possibly because of this.

The reason I think It might be because of this is because I had a Sundown 1000d that died also //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

At first I thought maybe it was the ground so instead of running to the seperate ground in the car like I had been I ran to my rear battery. I checked the voltage on my batteries and front and rear sit at 12.88 (car off).

Also my speaker amp shares the same ground and + as my sub amp yet it hasnt died. I have the remote going directly to the speaker amp from the deck and jumping from the speaker amp to the sub amp.

I guess the only real difference is that the RCA preout is from the sub rca's of my deck.

Im confused/lost/pissed and yes I did a search but didnt see anything.

Also does anyone know a good amp repair place for a sundown 1000d and a cactus 5k, I emailed dB-R but he hasnt replied. (Im in Chicago so maybe local?)

Sorry to hear about your problems, sucks for sure. Do the amps die right away?

Have you tried to measure voltage at the RCA's? Bad cable?

Did they ever go into protect from voltage drops under a load? Do you have another HU you can try or borrow one if possible.

We need to get you on DOA since we're all having electrical issues this year...

My sundown was fine for 9-10 months then it recently died in early July didnt think much of it cause I was switching to the new setup anyways. Ive had the cactus installed since Mid Last week and it seemed fine, was running it at 2 ohms and with the gains set pretty far down. It died on Tuesday //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif RIP

Right when I first turned the car one very first time with the cactus my friend said the amp flipped through protect for .5 second or so but then it was fine. It never went into protect or didnt play until it died on Tuesday.

Also I have a warranty on my HU through American so Im going down there probably tomorrow to see if they will replace it.

And in regards to the electrical issues dont say that, Im trying to fix all mine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif:crazy:

Its really pretty frustrating and Im about to pay dB-R 300-400 to fix this puppy so I dont want it to happen again EVER!!!!

Sundown = dB-r
There are a couple guy on here who can do it. Grinder something or other and ampjunkielikeme.
ampjunkielikeme = dB-r

He is one of my disciples.

Grinder is on his own. Though I would be glad to help him.
