Sub amp/component amp power ratio

When building a system for SQ. What is the best ratio between sub amp rms vs. component amp rms? I have seen some with double the power on subs. I have also seen equally powered systems.

I built my system with only sq in mind. The amount of power is pretty even. 300w on comps and 375w on the sub. It sounds feckin great, neither overpowers the other.

Nothing wrong with having a ton of power on the subs. Even in an SQ system. That's what a sub level control is for.

i got about 500 rms to my sub and 200 rms to each front comp, gains set accordingly

There's not going to be any magic ratio of power when comparing wattage being sent to your interior drivers versus wattage being sent to your substage.

Like most anything else when it comes to proper implementation of car audio gear it is going to be dependent on the vehicle in which the stuf is mounted, the specific gear that is mounted, and the wattage each respective bit will safely take.

You wouldn't want to take a sub that needs a kilowatt to really get going and only feed it 200 watts because that's more in line with the amount of wattage you send to your components....get what I'm saying?

Up to now I have run even comps vs subs. Seem like since my germanium install I cannot here my sub any more. The midbass on these things is amazing. I am considering going from 350 to around 500 watts on the sub. May fry the 10" infinity perfect.
