Will a head unit that has USB and ipod control, like the Eclipse CD5030 I just bought be able to play AAC (iTunes) files even though the deck does not support AAC?

If I can't play songs bought off iTunes I'll just return it and pick up a Kenwoood KW-X993.

playing the ipod through the USB/ipod control and playing the .aac files shouldn't be a problem haven't tried it, but if it is a hassle I guess you could always convert the files or just use torrents and download your stuff better then getting another unit, just my 2 cents anyways

I think I can get the x993 for about the same price. I think I'll go that route anyway because from what I've read the Eclipse doesn't play well with Nokia cell phones on bluetooth.

Generally, direct connect IPOD setups via USB are sending a bitstream that has to be handled (decoded) by the HU, so there has to be specific format compatibility. I notice the CD5030 on both the Crutch and the Eclipse site indicate no AAC compatibility. Even the encoding is usually specific, like my X100 indicates 320Kbps for MP3, 576 for AAC, etc. Though I was pretty stoked to learn recently that it also supports Apple Lossless.

If you want to avoid conversion swap it out, but like the folks above said, it's not a huge thing. Plus there are some good apps to do bulk conversion.

Yeah... check this link out. It shows the power handling of that tweeter. I'd just match the power no matter if you use the crossovers or not...

LOL - mine was a higher end model too - iirc deh-9300. Low mileage too, it was sitting around for year collecting dust.

One or two, they are still subwoofer outs and are mono summed signals from both left and right. Even the 2 RCA subwoofer pre-outs on the 2nd one...
