stupid idea?

I have a '97 dodge stratus. right now i have one ten inch memphis pr sub in a .75cubic foot sealed box. i have had an idea for a while to put two tens in the rear deck where the 6*9s go and mount a box underneath. I know i will need to cut and brace and what not. Just wondered if it was a bad idea. also i plan to make the box ported and im not too happy with the memphis so what would be a good replacement? im looking at no more than 140dol. a piece for the subs

No it isn't...

However, what I would do, personality, is cut out the rear deck (the thin metal, not the stuff that actually supports any part of the car) and make a recessed sort of box, so you can put grill cloth over it so no one can see it.

But a lot of people do this with great results.

But, to get an even better / louder response, you could seal off your trunk from your cab so there's less air to pressurize.

I have thought about sealing off the trunk as well, might actually be an easier project. so if i seal it off, where should the port be facing? into the cab as well?

ok then, last question that wasn't answered. What to replace my memphis pr's? i haven't tried them in a ported box, that might help, but they just dont seem to be able to handle much. they distort easy and cant take real low bass.

they do better in a ported box,,and what are you powering it with? and what were you expecting from a single 200 watt sub?

at the moment im only powering it with a kicker 4 channel amp. i bridged two channels together for it 175 watts rms. i plan on getting a hifonics amp of some sort when i get the funds

how much power can a memphis pr actually take? can they take more than the 250 they are rated at? wat about 400?
