i had a speedo on my bike back in the day. set up EXACTLY like that. only problem was the bracket was loose and the fckin pulley wouldn't stay on the tire.

and with the chain method you proposed, you'd only make power while pedaling. this way you just have to be rolling

you of course would have to figure out a way to mount the gernerator in a way so you can still operated the bike at the same time. but i think you would be better off with something like this over an alternator i don't think you could get an alt to spin up to its charging speed

I could take that piece that the tire sits on and spins and put that on top of the tire and change my sprockets in the back to get a better take off speed to balance out the resistance on the front tire and just let the front tire spin that while its hooked to my battery.

Im proly gonna start buying stuff for this within the month, November will be the planning, raising money stage. Whenever i have it planned and have everything the build log will see a new thread. Im looking into different subs now to save more money cuz i want 2 - i might get 8 ohms and run them at 4

And if i have 2 8 ohm subs that are 200 w RMS and i run them at 4 ohms at 125 w RMS will it sound good becuase they would be at 4 ohm

either way.... the way i see it....

1. alternator setup will be kool a little but will not put out its worth in man hours and cost of the actaul device.

2. Same for solar panels

3. Battery charger will have to be used alot

4. you will run out of power so fast... you could probly get a good 30 minutes out of the battery and then...ploof! its dead even with you pedaling fast and your solar panels.

5. GO MINI TRUCK!

I don't know too much about solar panels but I do believe you would have to have quite a few of them for it to be semi effective.
