Disturbing the Peace
OK, so I felt pretty proud of myself today... I helped a buddy out with a completely unbelievable issue.
My friend is running 2 12" Premier Pioneers off of a Hifonics Brutus, and he wanted me to help him troubleshoot why his amp stopped working. He told me that he bought an extra battery (Yellowtop) for the back and it ran for a week with no problems, but all of a sudden, no worky!
This is where it gets interesting... I looked at his install... his battery was not even connected to the alternator.

He had a power wire running from the Yellowtop to his amp, and the battery was grounded to the car. He didn't realize that the battery had to be connected to the charging system. I spent the better part of 10 minutes explaining to him how a charging system works, and needless to say he felt pretty stupid.
But that says something for Yellowtops... he ran his system off of just the battery for a week solid!
