student arrested , tasered at john kerry event vids inside

Ridiculous; the entire thing.

It appears he went over his time, they tried to get him to shuttup, he didn't, they cut his mic, he whined, the police tried to escort him out because he was obviously trying to make a scene, and then he resisted. Right? Right. So, when he resisted he got "tasered" (though i don't know how many people have the ability to yell when they get tasered) and then arrested FOR resisting. End of story. And then of course all the little brats there start whining about it. Ridiculous. I dont' see how these college kids can't see that what he did was planned. If he was there to simply state his point(s) why in the world did he have such a confrontational demeanor in his initial inquirty? Kids like that don't deserve the exposure they get. He knew what he was doing way before he did it.

The fact remains, and I watched it 3 times, from what was presented on the tape, there was no reason to arrest him or tazer him. He asked a sensitive question about Sen. Kerry's past, then they jumped him. Completely uncalled for, he had every right to ask the question, and if Senator Kerry did not want to answer it he should have said so.

This could make major tv headlines.
He wouldn't have been arrested had he just left the first time, but then he resisted while pitching a fit which led to an arrest situation. Then he resisted the arrest situation. At that point the taser makes sense, even with 5-6 cops available tasing him is likely safer for both of them in terms of long term damage. Plus it gives me something to laugh about on a Tuesday morning...

It helps that Kerry is a public figure, therefore the threshold of acceptable behavior is set at a different level than say if he had simply been a guest speaker...

The resisting arrest is valid, but there was no reason to arrest him from the beginning.

And all these "hippies" people are complaining about, the vast majority of them are Democrat. Now why would "hippies" be worried about bringing up a sensitive subject on their past savior?

I don't think they where going to arrest him in the first place. When he turned and ran towards the stage it became an arrest situation...

While I would agree with you in most cases, not on this one.

He cut to the front of the line, continuously berated kerry with questions without giving kerry a chance to respond, went over the alloted time limit given (which i'm sure he was aware of), then pissed and moaned when they asked him to stop. Then when they ask him to leave, he acts like he did nothing wrong, then puts up a fight and all hell breaks loose. He makes an even bigger scene while putting up a fight with the cops still, was warned that he would be tasered if he didn't stop, and since he kept fighting for no reason they zapped his ***.

He acted like a little b*tch about it, and therefore got treated like a b*tch. Had he asked his question in a calm and polite manner instead of being a prick about it, maybe things could have ended differently.

This was obviously his feeble attempt to get publicity (which worked) and make a mockery of both the university and the country in general. I would have kicked his *** had I been there.

I concur...I think Tim Tebow needs to stop by and set him str8, and let him know the only reason UF should be in the news is for winning football games. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

From what was presented on the tape, you don't see him push to the front of the line, and you hear Kerry say later on that it is an important question. Yes, he did go nutty and yell and scream, but based upon the tape, him asking a sensitive question to Kerry, does not deserve to be approached like that by the police from the get go, and if still if they never jumped him none of this would have happed from what I can see. If they did not want to answer tough questions, they should not have had an open forum like that. But to force a guy out as he is asking a question shows Kerry or who ever is running that question and answer sesion is the real *****.

I heard on one of the news channels that kerry said the guy shoved his way to the front of the line.

Asking a sensitive question is one thing, but not even giving kerry a chance to respond is just ignorant. The guy obviously just wanted to embarrass kerry and not actually get a response out of him.

The fact still remains that he went over his time limit, and when asked to stop he wouldn't. He feels as though his soapbox speech is more important than anyone else's questions. That's most likely why the police approached him in the first place. They set up rules for a reason, if a person blatantly disobeys them then people are going to start worrying about how far this is really going to go. With all the threats against officials these days, who's to say that the guy doesn't go completely nuts and pull out a gun or go after kerry?

You have to think about this from a safety standpoint as well. I'm sure kerry gets enough death threats as it is.

Some of you need to step back and look at the actions of the student, then the actions of the police.

The student began berating Kerry with questions, he was asked to stop. He did not. The Police attempted to remove him from the room. They were not arresting him, simply quelling the disturbance. The student then clearly attempts to free himself from the police. Now he has elevated himself to a threat, a threat on the police offficers and Kerry. Now the police have reason to arrest him. After no doubt being told by one of the officers he will be arrested, he continues resisting. Now he is resisting arrest. He continues, and is seen forcing himself out of the police's custody several times. Dependning on the rules and regs of that police department, he is more then likely warranting use of a tazer for forcibly resisting arrest.
