hey do you guys think that this would work for stripping 22-16gauge wires for alarm installs?http://cgi.ebay.com/Rotary-Cable-Sli...QQcmdZViewItem, i ordered t taps but somethings i like to solder in and i know my automatic strippers like this http://www.harborfreightusa.com/usa/...S,%20CRIMPPERS have tended to just tear the wire inhalf on the thinner gauge wires. and the razor blade method works but i cut my fingers all the time. and if you have a better idea or way let me know.

Keep a Bic lighter in your pocket. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Heat up the insulation a bit, let it cool for a couple of seconds, then simply pull it off. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

I've had the best luck with conventional wire strippers

I have a nice set of Klein strippers that works very well but seemingly for those smaller gauge wires they can be a bit tricky at times to strip without taking the wire underneath off along with the sheathing.

An installer with years and years of experience showed me the lighter trick a long time ago and it works really well. Just don't overheat the sheathing to where it begins to melt or else you can damage the wire underneath.

huh seems like it wont work, kuz it is just weird but i will try it before i knock it. you just tear it off with your hands or a pair of pliers?

Once you've heated however much of the end of the insulation you need to remove it weakens it.

All you have to do after heating it a bit is pull it off with your fingers.

In my experience it will simply come off in your hand leaving the exposed, uninsulated wire behind. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah, it does sound odd if you've never done it but I assure you, it works.
