Heroes are remembered, but legends never die
Right now i have a dual 2 ohm sub(later will be reconed into a dual 1). so for the time being im thinking about getting 2 amps to strap together(not sure what yet), to prepare for when i get my recone. i know most amps can be strapped to a 2 ohm final and be stable(givin you have a dual 1 sub). with this being said can 2 strapped amps be ran at a 4 ohm final load for now? i have the d2 right now so i cant wire to 2ohm, so in my case can i strap and wire to 4 ohm?

thanks in advance

The amps being stable at 2 ohms does not mean you need to run them at 2 ohms strapped, you can wire them up to a higher ohm load just not a lower one. Wire your sub to 4 ohms then hook them up to your strapped amps. The amps will split the resistance and each amp will see 2 ohms.

ok i see. i was just curious i didnt kknow if you had to run it at 4 ohm.

and amps can be strapped lower then 2 ohms....might not be recommended, but people do it all the time
yea i know, sundown for ex. ive seen them strapped down to 1 ohm. but idk if im going to get amps that go below 2 ohm. the reason im doing a recone is to get rid of the factory suspension and soft parts for my hdc3 18.

Bump..... Now im confused. Me and my friend argued about what the final load would elook like. Again i have 1 dual-2 sub. So what ohm load would be my final load. For example it says strap amps together for 1 ohm power on a 2 ohm load

The strapped amps split the final load. So if you wire your sub up to 4 ohms, each amplifier will see 2 ohms. If you wire your sub down to 1 ohm your amps will see .5 ohms each. If you have wired a 2 ohm final load on your sub, each amp will see 1 ohm and do the rated power for that ohm load.

Generally manufactures do not recommend wiring down below 1 ohm. That is why they recommend a 2ohm final load for strapped amps, because each amp see's 1 ohm

Ok i understand now. So i do need a dual 1 ohm sub

a dual 1 if you want to strap at 2ohms and a dual 2 if you want it at 1ohm or 4ohm final load

d1 .05ohms or 2ohms

If you want a final load of 2 ohms then yes. Depending on the amps you get and your electrical, you could wire your sub down to 1 ohm and run each amp at .5 ohms. Sundown amps like you said and many others have no problem running at .5 ohms. Remember you have box rise aswell so most likely you will have no problem wiring the sub down to 1 ohm if your electrical can handle it.
