Strapped Crunchgp3k pros (amp fried)

Well finally strapped the crunch's today.Dont really have enough electrical for .5 ohm a piece.So I decided to run them strapped at 4ohms for better efficiency and less voltage drop.So I started by doing everything manual said and ran each coil to each amp like suggested.Started car and everything was good so I slowly turned gain up and played for a couple of min then boom.It made a noise then smoke everywhere.It was so hot the pos and neg terminals to the amp were brite red.Whats funny is when I saw it burn up I shut the car off the good amp and 4ch turned off.The burnt amp stayed on with the car off but why?What did I do wrong?

Wouldn't two strapped at 4ohms be the ~same as one at 1ohm? What did you accomplish other than toasting an amp?

yes there strappable.I strapped them for effeciency and actually less voltage drop.Didnt accomplish anything.

Well if the pos and neg got red hot then the amp is a dead short and that's how car fires can start, the fuse to the amp didn't blow?

If you're going for efficiency then you should have used just one amp. Oh well shit happens at least you have 3000 watts left.
