strange......

I have an alpine 9815, and it has been working great for alomst 2 years now. But recently ill be driving and all of the sudden the sound will go out and i am unable to use any function on the radio other than the source button, i cant even turn the volume up and down. I drive a standard and the only thing that i have been able to do to fix it while im driving is turn the CAR all the way off, take the key out and restart it while im driving. It comes on perfectly after that, but if i take the faceplate off it still wont work when i put it back on unless the car has been turned off and then back on. Any one had this happen? If you have, any tips to what it is would be great .

I was thinking it might be starting to wear out a little bit. There are no issues with wiring, however i have not had it cleaned. Could cleaning possibly cause it to work better?
