Strange problem

Hi, I searched the forums when I was having trouble with my head unit going into demo mode everytime i got into the car after turning it off. Swapped the yellow and red wires around and it fixed the problem, but then things got a little strange //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

After doing that.. now when i go to the car to unlock it, the car unlocks, then all the windows start to go down, how far depends how long it takes me to get the key out of the door //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Also when i take the key out of the ignition, the immobiliser now plays a simple little tune for me 3 times.

Anyone got any ideas?

I was hoping someone would say 'its a feature that was previously broken, you just fixed the wiring' //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I guess ill get someone else to sort it out then, thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

the head unit works brilliantly now though, no problem with that. What i mean by demo mode is, that it used to forget all the radio stations and would start out saying 'cd mp3 player blah blah blah' instead of going straight to radio or CD mode. Its a sony one that came with the car (only bought it 2 days ago, 1994 VW Golf) First car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif but anyway, yeah that all works since i swapped the wires. Its the erratic window behavior that now has me confused :p

lol i knew it was a sony. turn the radio off. hold the volume control knob in for abt 8 seconds and an in depth menu will come up allowing you to turn off demo. switch your wires back and do that and you should be good.

I knew it was a VW!

The window rolling feature is part of the car. If you hold the key over for awhile the windows will roll down. I don't know if they roll up on that year though, try turning and holding the key the other direction when the windows are down.

And I HATE the noise that the VW's make with that little musical Duh Nuh Nuh, Duh Nuh Nuh, Duh Nuh Nuh...UGH!

VW's are notorious for electrical problems....so I am guessing the features were broken before and somehow they started working again, and I know that the stereo has to be all the way in for the factory alarm to work, it grounds through the chasis of the radio.
