u cant push more than an amp can handle. if an amp puts out 500 watts, u cant push it past 500 watt, theoretically. his amp could be pushing the subwoofer to hard, hence maybe tearing the spider, which could lead to metal banging noises. but torn spiders usually end all play at all. anything could be happening.

but really thanks for all the help guys. i'll try seting my subsonic casue it couldnt hurt right? and were talking about 1000w here guys not 500. im running a hiffonics btx1606 at 950w. ive heard there overrated on power so that could have me clipping, but i dont belive anything i hear..

if i said when i first got everything set up i could run it full out no problems, and now some of the same songs i need to turn down because it will start sounding funny.. does that mean anything to anyone?

i changed my subsonic filter and it seems to have helped some. but it still just doesnt seem right. one big factor im not sure on. i know everyone hates bass boost for some reason. but i tuned my sub to the right wattage with the bass boost on, so if at full boost im at 950w which is safe for my amp and sub, that shouldnt have an effect should it? in a sence i only use my boost to turn the sub down (becasue i have a remote for it and its handy)
