strange issue

so today i noticed that my amp'd speakers were not playing. I noticed when i put the volume high, they kicked back on. this happened for both sides. not necessarily at the same time, but it happened with both.

when i left the music loud, they would stay on until i lowered it and they would kick off again.

could this be an issue with my amp? i had this similar issue with another set of components in my old car (same amp) but it would only happen once in a blue moon //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

different headunit than my old car and all new wiring with this system. only thing that is the same is the amp. its an old soundstream 644s so it could very well be the amp

checked the remote wire. it is good.

yesterday the drivers side kept cutting in and out. and today so far the passenger side is cutting in and out and drivers side was fine. this is driving me crazy. i guess the only way to tell is to swap out amps and see if the problem persists. if i only had a second amp
