Strange issue with Kenwood KDC-BT838U

I have a Kenwood KDC-BT838U head unit that is experiencing a strange issue.

Someone accidentally auto-programed over all the radio stations I have programmed, and when I went to retune and program again, the AM station will only tune in increments of 9. (954, 963, 972, etc). FM tunes normally.

What have I tried?

Factory reset (twice)

Verified scroll and tune mode are set to MANUAL

Anyone have any ideas? My next step is probably to pull the fuse for a few minutes..

turn the unit off and hold the menu or volume knob in, think you can actually change the am/fm step like you can on pioneer decks. have you got the manuel?

ohhh and AM is crapola!

I have the manual, and have set the tuning to Manual, as well as the "scroll" feature.

FM tunes normally. AM does not.

I have factory reset it 3 times, pulled the unit out to drain all of its power, called kenwood support, and taken it to a couple local kenwood dealers. Everyone essentially scratches their heads and says WTF??

I tried your idea as well, no change.

I think I'm probably going to have to get a new deck.. *sigh*

Issue solved.

3 weeks after I sent an email to Kenwood, I got a reply. They said it seemed like it was in Euro mode, gave me steps to change it back.

That worked.

There was nothing about Euro mode in the manual. Just glad its working //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Issue solved.

Sorry, I should have done that...

To switch between US/Euro modes on the KDC-BT838U deck:

Turn the power OFF (Hold the [sRC] down for 2 sec)

Press and hold [FNC] and [AME]/[AUTO] keys

Press [sRC] key to power ON.

Release the [FNC] and [AME]/[AUTO] keys
