strange idea about dvd drive...is it possible?

well, time has come to reinstall all of my car audio equipment back into my car, which includes an older, but still great unit, the Eclipse av5101. in my car before i had a cheapo audiovox grey dvd player in the trunk and an eclipse 5083 8-disc changer for cd's. well, i've decided to not run the 8-disc changer because i dont really listen to cd's that often because i have my mp3 player connected to the aux of my brain, so most of my music comes from there, but i still want to have a cd/dvd player, but i was looking to install it somewhere up near the front of my grand cherokee. i havent really found any dvd player worthwhile, iv'e looked at eclipses but they are pricey and don't play dvd-r's. then i came up with the idea of using a computer drive aka: http://www.mp3car.com/store/index.php?cPath=39 , like anyone of these. Has anyone ever done this? is it possible run a dvd drive like this off of my headunit? thanks.

i think it sounds like a good idea. i don't think there would be too many problems, but not quite sure.
