Stock radio & aftermarket amp/comps

What do you guys think of using a stock radio with an aftermarket amp and components? I would use a 4 channel LOC (David Navone) for the RCA signal. My stock system is Monsoon and it’s a new truck. I would love to just swap out the headunit, but its double DIN, and I need an expensive OnStar adaptor ($150). This is a lease, so the less I spend on it, the better.

I just ordered a Sundown SAX100.4 (100x4). I was thinking of getting PG RSD’s or Crystals maybe. For bass I’m running a Sundown SAE1000D to a 12” FI Q in a ported box.

Would the SQ really suffer that much with the stock radio?

Thanks.

i've never done a hummer, but it doesnt have built in climate controls or anything does it? you dont have to have the onstar adapter if you dont mind losing onstar. most people dont use it anyway.

I guess it would still function, but I just wouldn't hear it. Not a bad idea. I think I used it once or twice just for kicks. Complete waste. I'll think about that. Thanks.
