Hello all,
Just found this forum, did a search, found some relavent information, but nothing that hits the nail on the head.
Anyway, just purchased and installed a Pioneer DEH-P690UB. I also bought an external Seagate 100G 25" SATA drive with a generic enclosure. The Seagate only needs 350mA to run, but I'm also using an external power source through the cigarette lighter.
I reformatted the drive FAT32, dumped my ~80G of MP3 music onto it, and hooked it into the new Pioneer head unit. The head unit displayed "Format Read" while the external HD was spinning.
I got to thinking that with 80G of music, it might take a while. However, 20 minutes later, I was thinking that something else was afoot.
Any reason why the stereo would still show "Format Read" after 20 minutes of being hooked up?
Thinking that it was the total amount of data I had on there (only MP3 music), I had put 10 or so songs on the drive, hooked it in, and it came right up and started to play. However, with 80G of music on it....well, it isn't doing much of anything.
Any ideas?
Tomorrow, I might put only about 10G or so on the drive and see if it'll work.
Thanks,
Laz
