stock head unit wiring

Doing an install for a friend and ran into something that ive never done before, trying to hook patch cords to the stock head unit, which has no rca plugs. he has a line converter, but im not quite sure how to hook it up. its got two sets of wires, and the only way i can see it working is hooking those 4 wires to the 4 for the back speakers, but then those wouldn't work. So basically im confused, thanx in advance for the help.

Tap the 2 sets of wires coming off the line converter into the rear speaker outputs of the headunit. So right rear +, right rear -, left rear + and left rear-.

yeah thats what i thought but how do the rear speakers work then?
