Stock head unit question...

i have a 2005 bmw 3 series coupe...i am ready to hook up a sound system but i am really considering keeping the stock head unit. my old car got jacked (system included) and i want to keep the stock head unit..it looks clean and flush with the rest of the console.

i kno that an after market head unit will give many more options to enhance sound and SQ, but how much of a difference is it if i replace the HU?

is there anything i can buy to control options of the sound quality without changing my OEM head unit?

how does this compare to JL cleansweep? it says its only 35 bucks, but the cleansweep is about 400...

differences bet. the two? pros/cons?

The cleansweep has signal processing to compensate for built in equilzation found in most oem units. such as low end roll off at higher volume levels and peaks in midrange to get better sound out of stock speakers. There is a thread on the car sound and preformance board. Audio Control also makes an intergration unit. The LC 6 if I remember correctly.

Audio Control LC6 and 6XS are both great platforms to integrate into OEM.

i surely dont wanna spend 400 on cleansweep, which unit is comparable but less expensive?

I prefer the Audio Control 6XS due to it's flexibility and the retention of the master volume control. It is a simple install, find the front and rear speaker wires, attach new wires to them that lead to the 6XS, solder on rca ends and plug them in. The 6XS does the rest and then adds a line driver, gain controller, grounding isolation, a great crossover + front / rear / sub preouts with a supplied level control on the sub.
