Still use crossovers

How many people still use crossovers in their system? Even though today's amps have crossovers, do some people bypass them and add active crossovers to their systems?

My HU has all the xovers my current setup requires. However I don't run an active front stage. If I were running an active front stage, I would probably buy a HU that had a better xover integrated before I bought a xover.

Well, I am either buying a CDA-9887 OR using my existing CDA-9885 with an external 3 way crossover when I take my Mustang active.

You and I think alike gunz4me because when I started out we always had 2 amps and a 3 way crossover. Probably a lot of the younger guys wouldn't use one. I just remember the clarity being out of this world and a lot better than the amps today with built in crossovers.

If you think about it a separate, dedicated crossover will generally be built better than a budget to mid level power amplifier that contains an onboard crossover. This holds true for even a "budget" electronic crossover like a Coustic. Heck, have you ever noticed that the higher end power amplifiers seem to lack onboard crossovers? In fact, I think the Tru Technology Billet Series as well as the top notch offerings from Brax are sold without crossovers.

I still use a 3-way external crossover. Tried the amps before in my last install and didn't like the sound and hooked up.......my uber cheap Lanzar 3-way up and sounded a shit ton better.
