The DEH-P980BT has almost the same features as the 880PRS. I recently installed one with the CD-UB100. I liked the unit overall, on the scope the pre-outs were free from any clipping or distortion at full volume. The owner seems to like some of the flexibility and built-in features. Too bad it sucks at reading USB drives with any quickness or the ability to display all of the characters. it can't do .wav though. I had to contact Pioneer customer support to verify .wav capability. they eventually put me in touch with Pioneer Premier dealer tech support, nice guys.

the main problem with the 7200mkII was the ugly face that required a funny opening to motorize. But a nice piece for SQ.

the DEX-99RS should be a nice, but expensive, replacement.

my 8600 had the noise....i wraped thin wire around all 6 preouts (once connected to the ones leading to the trunk) and grounded the wire to the center bolt behilnd the unit....worked for me.

my understanding is that it's not a fuse but a diode. Pioneer will repair it by using a diode with a higher rating. just grounding the RCA shield in lieu of replacing the diode is just as effective.
if you have a soldering iron with a small tip, replacing it is easy.

I actually got the RCA's grounded today and it almost completely eliminated the noise. You can barely hear it when the car is totally silent because of my power acoustik tweeters, I'm so happy now!

Yeah it does the exact same thing as the pico fuse (really a diode yes) except offers no protection to the head unit... so grats for gettin it done, i bet it is much more enjoyable now lol. So who here has an eclipse 7100 and doesn't like it? I wanna hear some bad stuff about it to talk me out of it being my final choice. If seperate left/right eq is all it is missing on the 880, then my mind is made up, because i think they look super sexy.

edit: Eh nevermind, looks like the 7100 doesn't have as much control as the 880prs. And the clarion is way too expensive and not playing mp3's is a huge dick in the ***.

So.... still only the 880 as the king of the game. Oh well, it looks pretty sleek anyways.

i suppose instead of grounding the RCA shields, you could just install the proper diode between the shield and ground. i'll ask Pioneer what they recommend for a diode.

theres a clarion unit, i think its dxz775 or something... is capable of FOUR way active for well under 200 new. theres also the dxz955, which is 3 way capable, the alpine 9887, the eclipse 7000 series... more than a couple.

i think you have things a little scred up here. the clarion drz 9255 is 4 way capable and is discontinued. if there was a 4 way actice unit for under $200 new my problems would be over
