Stick with SA8v2s (and get more) or do a full change up

I have a single SA8v2 on a saz1000D@1ohm. Its sounds alright, good accurate bass, gets extremely low considering. Its at thermal maximum right now I have no question about that, the second you get into even a soft clip the coil starts to stink. I want louder more powerful bass but im not set on what direction to go. Trunk space isnt that big of a deal.. I can spend ~$1000.. one idea would be 3 8s on an old SAZ2000D, but I really dont know :\ Any ideas would be cool.. (I cant get the TC LMS Ultra 5400 out of my mind, I want it so badly, but figuring out an 18 in my trunk is going to be fun)

I'd run 4 sa8's on 3k personally
That does sound silly loud, and not that expensive..

Did you finally get your signal/head unit issues worked out?
Yeah! I updated that thread with a video, turns out having an x-over on the deck and amp set at the same frequency cuts output no nothing.. So I opened the sub and mid amp x-overs up and tuned with the deck. mids at 65hz and sub at 80, sounds so much better. But sub stage just isn't loud enough for my tastes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif It doesn't help that its in the trunk, even with the seats down I know i'm missing out on a db or two

LOL, I hear this all the time with a single 8" setup.
However, you should have plenty of room to run a few more and increase power if you want.
Do you think I would be better off with multiple 8s? or that LMS 5400 (considering the down sides of that 18 are massive space and its $1K)

But dont get me wrong for a single 8" its extremely impressive..

It really is hard to be too satisfied with a single 8 daily in a trunk. I haven't seen an 8 yet that I would be satisfied with for any extended period of time. Your budget allows for TONS of options. A single 15 or a pair of nasty 12's would easily get WAY louder.

sa 12 on the same power

also in the OP you said your giving a driver almost double the RMS rating and when you clip that power it gets stinky and your complaining?!?!?!?!?

Yeah $1k is a good chunk of money; is that only subs, or sub and amp? Personally I would go with larger subs, but that's just me. How much space do you have to work with?

Still considering a pair of Zv3 12s firing into the cabin on a 3500D

No no man i'm not complaining at all, i'm just saying more power isn't an option. I ran 2 SA12s on a SAZ-1500D in my last build, got loud but I want to get louder.

This is going to be a build I get parts for over time so budget isn't set in stone. I always go used on my parts...

What would you do, 4 SA8s on 3K or 2 z12s on 3.5K

The Z's, without a doubt.
In my head it sounds awesome...... So used v3-12 ~$380, need 2 XS Power batteries ($500), and a SAZ-3500D used ~$700

So... $2K.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

You set on that SAZ? You can find used DC's, AQ's, or Crescendo's for $600 or under. Actually, Crescendo BC3500's are $679 brand new. And what size alternator you have? If you've got a decent sized battery now, it's probably smarter to spend that $500 you had allocated for batteries on an alternator.
