Stick with my AV15, or upgrade to the TD18H+?

Haven't heard either sub, your setup or even know what your true goals are, so I, like most here, can't give you any sort of realistic feedback.

How do you like your current setup?

My current setup sucks. AV15-X, 3.5 cubes tuned to 25 Hz with ~1000 rms. Port opening is 14.5"x2" (apparently too small?????) Has absolutely NOTHING up top, hence why the increase of 8Db's at 70Hz would be incredible. According to a friend from CAF whom I met this weekend,w e both agree it's mid 140's in the lower frequencies, especially since my wipers will dance off the windshield. However, play something like System of a Down, Limp Bizkit, etc - you can barely tell there is a subwoofer installed.

Oh, and as far as goals - to maintain the high output low-end I have now, while killing it in the upper end as well. I want it to punch me int he chest, and make it hurt, or better yet, hard to breathe.

It's pretty **** loud, but I have no data to back it up. Want to get on a friends Termlab one of these days if I can.

Regardless, it's just a number for comparisons sake.

idk man..what music do you listen to? maybe you need to tune to 30-32hz?? sounds to me like the box is wrong for the sub

3.5 tuned to 30-32hz should do the trick..what did john say about it?

I listen to alot of rap, but I also like to throw on some rock, or country, at full volume as well.

And idk, I haven't been able to get ahold of him in about a week. At the time when I built the box, he said it would be fine. Obviously, that was wrong.

Anybody have any input on the 18 though, or about using PR's instead of ports as well?

i got you..but like i said..best bet is try a different box tuned to 30-32hz and if thats not what you want/need, then go with the 18

I don't have time/place to build the box myself, so I'm paying AMI Creations from CAF to build the box, since he's local to me. And since I'm paying for a box to be built, I'd rather only pay for it once.

IDK, do I?? Thats the whole point of me posting the thread. If I knew this already, I would not have bothered posting.

it all depends on your tastes man..everyones opinion is different, im more sq oriented, so I would stick with the 15..if you want to go louder, i would go with a larger port..the 18 in a bigger box and bigger port, will prolly get louder..but as always, the sub is only as good as the box is in and the power its receiving

Well, the 15 is getting ~1000 right now. If I send it back to get reconed into a D2, then it'll be getting ~1400 from the Cadence A7HC I just picked up. And I have at most 5 cubes gross to work with.

thats huge! lol..umm idk, I would probably have a box around 4-4.5cu ft tuned to 35hz for max output

that sub can take that 1400wrms easily and i think you will be happy with getting it reconed
