Stetsom Vs Sundown

you know comparing DD and Sundown to Stetsom is like apples to oranges. Class D to Digital isnt the same.

I'm dying to see the explanation of what a "digital" amp is. Please elaborate.

As to the original question, I've been running stetsom amp for a while and also have run sundowns. I can say the sundowns seem much more sollidly built, but the Stetsom puts out a lot of power in a small package so if space is an issue it might be worth a look. Really if you shop around and buy right you can buy all of them, test them, and re-sell them here and pay minimal for your audition. IMO that's really the best way to figure out which will best work in your application.

I can also vouch for Sundown's good customer support. Jacob is online constantly to answer questions or provide help. Definiteley one of the top 3 in the industry.

Im not sure the exact differences so i cant really elaborate.

True digital car amps do not exist. Stetsoms run just like any other amp.
I thought they did it in a different way because of the difference in parts.

IF someone knows a lot about the differences, Maybe Chirs, enlighten us because i would like to be educated more as well.

I'm no expert on Stetsoms. I've worked on them, fixed them etc. but I don't know everything about them. What I can tell you is there is nothing extremely different from a Stetsom to any other class D amp. I mean part differences are a given....

My understanding of stetsom is that to get the small footprint, they use less components , and drive them to higher voltages than other amps. Not to just repeat things, but I have read from some reputable people that stetsom is not as good of a daily amp due to how they are set up, more of a burp/comp amp. Class d is "digital". I would have chosen the sundown, Jake's CS is amazing.

Class D is not digital. Every car amp that I can think of is not digital. Digital is just a term that they use. I'm sure Chris could explain it better than me because I'm not too great at explaining stuff.

Anyone know what dB-r was talking about how he pointed out differences in amp qualities? Was it that Sundown vs. AQ thread? And what was his conclusion? Anyone know?
Dig really deep in this section //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

You know I am not sure exactly either, did you notice the quotes around digital? I know that "class d and digital" are more efficient than traditional class a, a/b designs, something to do with how the voltages are regulated in the amp.

Missed the quotes, sorry. Stetsoms are not digital, they're just class D. Not much different then any other class D amp. Not reliable and not a daily amp, at least the stuff you guys are used to seeing such as the 7kd, 2k5d....whatever. The smaller amps look like a lot less of a headache. It doesn't bother me because I don't run that crap.
