stereo plays quieter then it should

my stereo is playing quieter then it should. ive tried running speakers off head unit and the amp, using different speakers, switching wires, playing with settings but i always get the same result. head unit worked perfectly fine when i got it from my brother. ive spent hours trouble shooting and the only thing i can think of is theres a short in the power wire leading to the deck however i wont have the time to go through all that for a couple days. other than that im completely clueless i feel like ive tried everything. if u have any ideas please share. thanks

What kind of HU are u running

its an Aiwa head unit. im not sure of the model but the face is split in the middle and folds out if ur familier with it
