Okay guys, a little off the wall challenge here that I could use some serious creativity and thought on:
I have acquired as a "gift" a complete POS '86 Chevy 2wd Ext Cab S10. I have decided to use this thing as a little runaround instead of scrapping it, and as such, needs a sound system of some sort. I will post pics as soon as I have time. The truck has the following "attributes":
--More rust than actual body left
--Tiny white wall tires
--Ugly *** topper (now taken off and sent to recycler for $$$ aluminum)
--Multiple "Buckle Up," "Unions Build America" and "Follow Me To Ernie's Diner" bumper stickers
--A mismatched bench seat that is red when the rest of the interior is blue
--A Driver's side window that when rolled down, falls off the track. Did it to me on Easter when I brought it home in a snowstorm and wouldn't roll back up and I was only wearing jeans and a hoodie.
--Heater is always on, and is stuck on Low fan.
--Catalytic converter has a hole in it the size of my fist, and is so loud people hear me coming at start staring from 2 blocks away...getting fixed tomorrow though.
--Great Stuff Expanding Foam in one huge rust hole in lower ext cab area, which helps keeps water out of rear seating area. Totally visible from exterior.
--To top it all off it has a Hardee's Star on the antenna that I have purposely left on it for effect.
--AND it has one working speaker, which is in the passenger side rear of the truck.
Stock system, per Crutchfield: Tape deck, 4 speakers, 2 4x6 plates in front dash and 2 4x10s in rear pillars.
My challenge to you, the experts: Put me together the simplest, cheapest, best sounding stereo system possible, and it must consist, at a minimum: front speakers of some sort, and a subwoofer of some sort.
More credence will be given to responses that back up their suggestions with some reviews/data/personal experience vs. just finding the cheapest crap and saying to buy it. We are going for utmost value for the utmost cheapest price. If this thing blows up tomorrow, the speakers go to the scrapyard with it!
