Steering problems help

When i make a full rotation with my steering wheel to left on my tahoe 01, at the system center lcd thing on dash it shows red pic of battery and then the steering wheel i cant move like i lost power steering, anyone know wats the problem. To get it back to normal i have to turn car off and then restart it, also my stereo system has own electrical system so that not the problem.
