Take a look at a few of these articles...while it does indicate a lack of OT shifts recently, they have been notoriously overpaid for a good 2 decades now.

Cut their wages in half and that is what they would be getting in an open market.

How can a state prohibit unions?
All federal employees belong to the union. There are federal employees in FL.
You are correct, FED employees belong to the union but they represent a small portion of the employment base. Most unions including Public Education and Waste disposal are very weak in this state, thus have little impact on the economy.

I love being in a right to work state!

I am in a right to work state as well.

If you belong to a union. A contract is created. The contract is treated differently than the law.

At Lowe's, you can fire people left and right.

At places with union, you cannot. You must have documentation, justification, and sometimes arbitration.

LOL that doesn't say they make 80k a year. My dad works for Ford's and my uncle works at the GM tech center and is a skilled trade and doesn't make 80k a year. My dad has friends at Chrysler who don't make 80k a year. I worked for Chrysler and wasn't getting near 80k. The hourly rate is $26/hour. None of the big 3 are giving out overtime. Most of the plants in Detroit have closed so your wish is coming true.

Also since the Japanese spend less in wages, why aren't their cars considerably less then the American cars?

right to work states (like SD) fukin' ****.

The one union job i had (AFSCME) had an unbelievable contract that spelled out everything from grievances and arbitration to employee meal benefits.

The best part was that any grievances taken to completion ended up in front of the state personnel board, which was appointed by the governor, and was pretty pro-labor.

9/10 times they sided with the employee and management knew it.

Anybody who supports right to work states cannot call themselves Democrats. I still cannot believe why an Michigander would vote Republican. It's these stupid assclowns in the northern part of the state who vote Republican.

You do realize the auto industry and manufacturing are the huge driving force in Ohio right? So you do realize that Detroit and the UAW has a big impact on the Ohio economy?
I read the papers and GM went on strike here as well.

Just felt like saying only in Detriot. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Shows what you know about low cost business strategies.

Just because you can make something cheaper than a competitor does not mean you have to charge less. That means the company makes more profit.

I agree, but to the consumer, why should they care what the employee makes if the price of the vehicle is the same?

It's a way of determining value.

For instance, when I buy things I try to think about all the variables that add up to price.

For instance, I would like know whether the price comes from :

expensive parts

high quality technical labor

high cost machines that do "a job" with great precision

executive pay

dividends to shareholder's etc.

Knowing these things can better help me evaluate what I am getting in a purchase.

In other words, if they have to make the parts cheap because labor is so expensive, then that could reduce the quality of the car.

Others may think that expensive labor makes a car more valueable as they would spend more time and thus increase the quality of the car.

It's a subjective analysis.

I'm sorry but no normal person does that when buying a car.

Also don't you own an S-10?
