First of all, I have been a member of this forum for only a few months and post on here from time to time. I enjoy the information that I get from here just reading and searching, so thats why I created this thread.
For the last year, I have been running (4) 12"AA Assassins off of a Orion 1200d in the trunk of my 04 Ford Crown Vic sealed. The assassins have preformed well, im just ready for something new. I considered porting the assassins, but there is no way other than CRX style in my trunk and I have fired them up and was not as sastified with their output as they were firing toward the taillights.
My plan was to replace them either with a pair of FI Q 15s or something along those lines, then I got an idea. I know that its easy to remove the bottom portion of my rear seat, (it just pops right out) and the top portion unbolts fairly easy I think. I remember a while ago, I saw a guy on cardomain.com that had a 94 Oldsmobile 98 Regency and he had a semi wall with 4 15s ported inplace of the rear seat, and it got me thinking about doing something similar. I did some measurements and I found that I have about 20 cubic feet ( after taking into account for .75 MDF ) back there without the rear seat.
I have been considering the Qs, BLs, and even the BTLs (a pair only on those) in this space. Either (4) 15s or (2) 18s ported. I wanted it to be a box that bolts down but could be removed if ever came a time I needed to take it out, plus the car has only 30000 miles on it and I didnt want to do any permanent things to it (at least right now). Of course, electrical would be upgraded as well as mids and highs up front (i dont run rear fill). Power would more that likely be from the Sundown series of amps (depends on what I run).
What I really want to know is do you guys think that this is a good idea? I have had plenty of trunk and suv systems over the years, just never in the rear of a full size passanger car. I have heard a few systems with speaker walls, but its been a while so I cant remember how they sounded. Im not trying to compete, just buliding a loud daily driver. I have about 10 cubic feet of free space in the trunk( after taking into account for .75 MDF) so there is plenty of space there for an install too, but I wanted to do something different and loud.
Any input is greatly apperciated, thanks guys...
Im also putting this on a couple of other forums just to get some feedback before I start on this major project.
