Starting a Car Audio Company

Did you fail to realize he was making fun of you, or is this a feeble attempt at ignoring the fact that while you were so busy bragging you have been recruited by silicon valley firms, you dont even seem to know how to spell silicon?
I was serious. Now that I know the cruelty of his mistake, I am unimpressed with his bragging.

The world is full of narcissists. He isn't out of high school yet, so his opinion is you dont need college to get ahead. But once he's graduated college, he will change his opinion to if you dont have a degree, you are nothing. He's already stated he plans to hire people right out of college to run all his businesses, yet HE doesn't need a degree. Not to mention, his 'mentor' (who no doubt has a degree) trying to get him a foot in the door with some big companies is his idea of them 'recruiting' him. I suspect no matter where he is in life, he will always feel he's the guy for the job. Ambition is great, but so is being realistic and humble. He'll learn, life just hasn't beat him down enough yet. Im sure most of us thought we had the world by the tail at one point or another too.

I find his arrogance highly annoying, but I wish him well in his future endeavors. As I do with anyone here.

ah, to be young and ignorant again. Finding out the world is really just a big shit sandwich changes perspective

Indeed it does, as does a lousy economy. Luxury industries like car audio are usually the first, and worst, to feel the strain. Ive considered getting into this business, car audio, but the economy always turns me off to it.

Thank you. Please realize that I do see the value in college. After all, I am going their for 4-5 years depending on whether I want to get my MBA. And yes, all of my mentors have a degree from great colleges except for one who jumped into business right after high school. I'm not recommending that, but college isn't for everyone. That's unfortunate in this day and time because college is now a precedent for wealth (95% of the time).

And good job for predicting the post //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

You'll find far too often in the business world, its not what you can do, its who you know and how you present yourself. Unfortunately. And just as unfortunately, a degree is a big part of how people view you. That is, unless you have the capital to get the ball rolling yourself, then its about what you can do. Be patient, slow down a bit and try a bit harder to keep your feet on the ground. You'll do well, just let it happen when the time is right, not necessarily right now. Age IS a factor, being you arent out of high school yet, you simply cannot have the experience necessary to deal with a lot of situations you will encounter in the business world. People who have moved through that learning curve will recognize this, no matter how maturely you present yourself. For example, if those silicon valley companies really are interested in you, Im betting they said something along the lines of 'come talk to us when you finish school'.

Well, once again, I agree with what you said. A degree is a big part of how people view you. I'm not expecting by any means to hit it big at the moment. I am really just trying to help another company out where I can. I'm not looking to be a 50/50 business partner because the truth is I'm not putting in anywhere near fifty percent of the work nor fifty percent of the capital investment. I am simply looking to help out

But you have definitely gained my respect
