Ssa Icon or sundown x?

Man id love to hear all subs mentioned. Im very curious to hear what a Sundown X sounds like.
If I was back in the market for a single 12 I think id seriously take a look into the XCON.
Once I order my 2nd x15, when Jake re opens the refurb, i will be getting another immedaitelly. I'm dying to finally try these out. No one around me has SA subs.

If it is still between the aforementioned I would go Xcon/Zcon all day over the X or Zv.4.

I X was muddy in all of my trials with it. It did not sound clean at all. Many on here have been stating this nonsense about the X being "linear" and that is why it sounds different. That is garbage. I have had many known to be very linear subs and they all sound much better than the X. I have no knowledge of the zv.4 but if they are saying it sounds the same as the X then it would be off the list as well.

I like the SSA Xcon for this topic, but my vote is biased. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif But it is a win win either way with Sundown or SSA.

^Especially if you buy them from SSA! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I just bought my XS charger from them a few days ago

Funny how no one like the x or z series Sundown subs in this forum yet other forums they love them.
I think it's user error.
Most people don't like the surrounds. I like the beefy look, but not the reduction of cone area and added moving mass. The added moving mass does lower FS though, which is a plus for this type of driver.

I was happy with my X, but needed more cone area.

User error as in enclosure? That may be the problem with some people not liking the sound.

Cool, definitely keep us updated on the build.

Don't know if its temporary or permanent. Probably temporary

Jacob has said it before that u can not hear the difference in the amount of cone area lost, and with the amount of excursion the x/zv4 has it makes up for the loss in cone area. So if u think u had a problem with lack of cone area I beg to differ //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sorry, I could have worded that differently. I meant that I need more cone area than a single 10". The two statements were not meant to be related.

I got some 15" DD composite cones for my Fi's. Hopefully that'll be enough cone area for my Fiero, haha

The extra weight from the heavy surround increases MMS which is going to reduce excursion

There's a reason people tend to gain when they switch from the "mega roll" surround subs to others.
