I honestly would pick up the 2nd gallon. If you don't use it all, you'll atleast have some left over for future use (doors maybe...or if you get a different car, etc etc). And that way you won't be limited on how much you can use.

Alright, I understand what you're saying. However, I feel as though when I start applying the stuff, I am just going to keep painting it on until I am done with the two gallons. Should I not do that? How do I know when to stop?

After each layer knock on the panel. See (hear) how much it's still resonanting. Obviously you won't totally eliminate it, but it should be noticeable when the layers start having diminishing returns.

Would it be the same thing if I just play the same song after each layer and see if its still rattling as much?

Are you saying that even with all this deadening I won't be able to stop all of the rattling?

only way to get rid of all the rattles is to lay 4 gallons of that stuff on

Then put 2-3 layers of damplifier on

And more, even then, you still could have rattles

You have to understand the amount of force you are exurting upon the panels in your car. They are inevitably(sp?) going to vibrate and resonant, just part of the game.

But yes, it will certainly help. Just realize it probably won't totally eliminate it.....but it should at the very least bring it down to a tolerable level.
