SQ setup

Ok, I've decided I want an SQ setup, but I'm not really sure what makes a good SQ setup. In the subwoofer catagory, should I be looking for 1 sub or more and any certain brands that really stick out in the SQ field. In the amp catagory, are there amps that are better for SQ compared to SPL? I know I want something that is gonna hit hard but sound really good, so I know I'm looking at a sealed enclosure. I have an eclipse deck right now and also (4) eclipse 6x9's. So, I need some suggestions in which direction I should be looking.

throw away those 6x9's please. sell them on ebay or something. which model eclipse HU do you have? also you going active or passive?

as for amps, just get something that is reliable and outputs sufficient power. there are plenty of good companies out there: kicker, orion, rockford (old school stuff), zapco, usamps, dls, mb quart, audison, tru, arc audio, etc.

Lets start with a budget first.

With subs, one can suffice but it's not gonna kill you to have more.

There are amps better for SQ (debatable though, but we won't go there).

Eclipse decks are nice, especially the 8 series.

Ditch the 6x9's if you're going straight SQ, or you can keep a set in the rear if you want.

why should I get rid of the 6x9's? My deck is a 8425 or 8435 I believe. I am more focused on finding good subs. I wanna find out how many will sound good and which brands. I know there are so many subs out there so I am really just tryin to get an idea before I can really decide what my budget is.

Get rid of the 6x9's in front and go with a good set of 6.5" drivers - I haven't been too impressed with the sound I've heard from most 6x9's, and I'm almost certain those don't have outboard crossovers or anything that would give you flexibility in the installation. Make a set of baffles for 6.5" drivers (maybe even 7" or 8" if you can cut the door panel to fit) and use those instead.

If you're into SQ, you should be more focused on your front stage, as that's going to make a bigger impact on your overall soundstage than your sub(s) will.

The reason most poeple get rid of 6x9 is b/c most oval speakers sound worse than a circle speaker. This is also debatable but from my experience 6x9 juss get loud and don't sound too good. Go with some 6.5 comps and amp them properly. It's all in the install on how its going to sound.

No said soundsplinter Rl-p for a SQ sub, so im saying it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif If you are happy with the SQ from your 6x9's then by all means keep them. People will tell you otherwise because high end SQ systems (people that compete in SQ comps) never use them. But hey if you like them, screw it.

Subs: Alumapro, ID, DLS, Adire, RE, Eclipse.

Components: Anything you like the sound of that is within your budget...too many brands to mention.

Amps: Anything that does a clean job of amplifying the source material that has the features and power required for the job....again too many brands to mention.

What SQ comes down to is accurate reproduction of music...which is absolute....what you hear is perceptual and forms the basis for your decisions on what to buy. A round speaker has better sound quality than an oval one....have you ever seen a high-end home theater system with oval speakers??

I want some good SQ subs that will still hit hard. I have 1 12" L7 now, will 2 12" IDQ's hit just as hard? I want something that is gonna sound great but still make the whole car shake. Does anyone know what I mean?
