Import them using Apple Lossless, and you can get bit rates approaching 1000kbps

The music on almost all CD's is compressed too, just not digitally for storage capacity considerations.

on what I believe most decks with ipod control still use the DAC out of the ipod, whatever that maybe. While a cd gets a 24 bit DAC from the h/u. Cd's are pretty much the best still.

Would I notice any difference from using the adaptor instead of my Aux. on my deck? Seems ever since I put in my new componts that my iPod sounds like crap, compared to when I was just running the stockers, it sounded ok.

Just have a brand new Adaptor that has been sitting in my room for awhile now and not sure if it would help the sound at all.

My old HU did not have a method of direct connect, so i just use the aux input. I could definitely head a difference in quality (not just sitting in the car, large enough to notice when driving as well) when i had that setup (pioneer 680mp, or 860mp, i dont remember which one, couple yrs ago). My HU im currently using has connects to the dock on the bottom of the ipod, and i dont seem to notice any difference when using it and controlling the ipod through the HU's interface (although i have not just sat in the car and listened, but it doesn't seem noticable when driving).

I know people may say they hear a difference, and their might be an audible difference with a more sq setup (mines in my sig), but i doubt the average person will hear a considerable difference while driving when road noise and other factors come into play. I guess it might depend on the HU as well too though (my current one is a eclipse, don't remember the model #).

ive got an alpine cda9887 and the sound quality is spot on "to me" but on sume burned cds different songs require different volume levels to be the same volume... but im still happy

I think my iPod sounds pretty good through my Aux input on my Alpine 9825. That said, there is no way it sounds as good the cd. Better recorded albums will have a much smaller difference, but there are so many horrible recording studios out there today...shame shame. (Or perhaps it's the mentality of the audio engineers/pop music today)

Yeah there are alot of songs that you dont realize how badly they are recorded until you try to listen to them on a nice system.

Cds sound better and louder IMO
