Installed an Audiovox FM Modulator - now have radio interference?

I had an Audivox Movies 2 Go headrest video system installed at Circuit City along with an Audiovox FM Modulator to wire it into the radio about a week ago in my 2007 Volkswagon Touareg (standard radio). Everything appeared to be working great until I noticed that when I'm in regular radio mode (with the modulator turned off) my radio reception is waaaay more sensitive to interference than it used to be. Being around buildings and power lines has a major impact on radio reception. When I'm in the open it's just fine.

Does this sound unusual to anyone? My theory is that since the modulator plugs inbetween the antenna and the radio that the pass through signal is being degraded somehow. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this? Is there some sort of amp or line cleaner that needs to also be installed?

Interesting. When i read the topic, i though this would be about interference while using said modulator. But i have no answer for you, good luck.
