SQ comp?...

Those are the two main SQ competition formats.

MECA (http://www.mecacaraudio.com/sqrules.php) has SQ competitions as well.

They are judged by ear for things like soundstaging, imaging, tonality and the like against a set of guidelines of how a vehicle should sound. They are also judged for things like installation integrity, creativity, a portion of the judging is SPL, they are RTA'd, etc.

SQ comps aren't very popular and are quickly dying //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

that really ***** too hear.

I beg to differ. Alot of it is measured by RTA for laser flat frequency response - or at least thats the goal. It gets very tough getting that response and you are also judged on installation cleanliness and are racked up on a point system. Usaci is the more popular organization on Sound Quality. Slap would be tied with iasca and even though MECA says they do SQ, I havent seen it yet where they actually have, even at the SQ sanctioned events.

the rta in most sq events is a tie breaker. a flat response sounds like arse. 1 reson why sq is dying is because very few people know how to do it, then when they get judged they get p/oed. with spl they get a metered score. so people lean to the less subjective side. plus db drags move along where sq can get boring. sq shows are still around but most shows (like to a 10-1 ratio) are db drag only.
