SQ and rap?

helo speaks the truth. I doubt anyone here is saying you couldn't find a rap track with rapid and highly detailed bass lines, difficult transients, etc. But on the whole, do you guys really wanna argue that rap music in general is geared towards a SQ system/setup? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Most rap songs, like helo said, have artificially created or boosted bass notes. Its great for pounding the ground with, usually it just doesn't bring out the clarity and detail of a true SQ setup.

Anecdotal arguments are alarmingly abundant in this thread.

PS - most rap is not music //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

The problem with rap is this. Some/most of you will go buy or download rap songs that have alot of bass. Even though the lyrics ****. So your system will thump. Now this crap is the most downloaded and purchesed. The industry thinks this is what people want. And produce more of it. I hear all of you talking about lil whoever, jezzy these rappers with third grade lyrics. I havent seen or heard anyone talking about the new Dj Premier, Nas, KRS, Rakim and K. West song. Lyrics no longer matter as long as theres a lot of bass!! Thats why im so old school. Anyone know the name of that Premier song I couldnt find it at FYE?

Everybody shutup and stop bashing rap music. There all different types of rap music and if you dont like it dont listen. And to everybody who says that people need to do it like the old school yall need to realize why its called the OLD school. Its outdated. I mean how many dudes on this forum you know running equipment from 1984? Rap has evolved just like everything else and if you dont like where its going find a record player for your car, find "Walk this Way" on ebay, and put it on repeat so you can stay true to the old school

Rappers fighting for a place in the SQ world now.... alrighty.

For those of you who have said you dont listen to rap for the beat, but for the lyrics (because they kick *** aparently)... you read poetry too right? If its just about the lyrics, a couple decades of rap music have nothing on centuries of human poetry. So OBVIOUSLY you guys read poetry too. Tell us, what are some of your favorites...

I keep getting confused if this is the thread about rappers wanting their SQ respect, or if its the one about those SPL sub owners wanting their 'SQ system' respect.

Kayne ruined that song. You can't put him on the same level as any of them... And I hate KRS one so thats saying alot.

that songs new, cant really expect it to be brought up. I just heard it for the first time a couple days ago.

Now to say rap has no lyrics, come on now. Thats a bold statement. Like me saying there no good guitar players because the friends that i know play and **** at it.

You cant judge a genre as a whole just because shitty rap is all that sells.

While I'll agree alot of rap people get nowadays just to bump has pretty shitty lyrics for the most part, I don't agree that these songs are just for SPL. The bass can sound really great with good SQ subs as well even though they have mostly simple bass tracks. Fast or varied bass notes aren't the only factor in SQ the bass should all around sound better, listen to some of these songs on an SPL sub then on an SQ sub and you'll see what I'm saying. And come on, only old school has good lyrics TIGER? You need to start listening to more rap if this is the case, there are alot of ****ing genius lyrical rappers out there, you just have to find them. Take Atmosphere or Eyedea and Abilities for example, they're not old school in any way but they're lyrical masterminds, they don't rap about the club or drugs all the time so unfortunately they'll never become hugely famous but they're still great to listen to.

Now the real question is, how many people on this board 1) know WTF you're talking about and of those that do 2) know where that sample came from.
Full Metal Jacket //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/graduate.gif.d982460be9f153bb54e5d4cb744f6ae8.gif It was from that Vietcong wh0re that distracted Joker & Rafterman so her thieving friends could steal the camera. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

90's rap + young jeezy> todays shitty created rap with horrible hooks

I always laugh when I hear a rapper these days who are sampling a rap song from when I was in school through college in the 80's through mid 90's that was a sample of a "classic" song from the 60's or 70's. It always makes me wonder if any of them know where their samples came from.

Yeah, no doubt Full Metal Jacket and a 2 Live Crew Song. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
