SQ and rap?

Ok, the reason people say rap and SQ don't go together is that usually for a really nice SQ setup your sub is set to go from about 20-50 Hz where most rap music has it's base around 60-120 Hz. The setup usually doesn't lend itself to handle both. Now I enjoy rap, I do have 2 ported 15's afterall, but SQ is how my system was built. I have multiple settings on my EQ that allows me to take my SQ setting and adjust for sub frequencies. I now have a competition and street beats settings. Also, most people that do SPL and who do have a tendency towards rap (might as well make use of the subs) love the amount of bass they can get out of SPL subs. They usually have a longer excursion and can take more abuse before they give up. The higher end SQ subs can't take high SPL or they will blow. It's the difference between a quick and responsive sub and one that will shake all day long. I'm sorry if this was mentioned before, but I didn't feel like reading the middle 5 pages.

can anyone name lowend to highend spl subs ? Image Dynamics is it a part of the spl subs?

you're a f ucking idiot.
chances are your basing your opinion on the "rap" you hear on your local radio station.

**** a d ick.
I GUARANTEE that "f ucking idiot" knows more about this subject, and car audio in general, than you will ever know, let alone right now.
Dont tell other people to grow up if you are gonna rant like a kid on the playground. Look up the term hypocrite in a dictionary.

BTW, punk's #2 was obviously a joke.

Have a nice day.

Cunninlynguists, Tonedeff and the whole QN5 group is absolutely great, revolutionizing the industry for the better. Listen to Cunninlynguists latest CD A piece of Strange and tell me thats not musical. Most musical CD i have listened to, it is truely a work of art.

And no I just don't listen to rap, I am into many other genres including classical and acoustic rock.

Rap music has most of it's bass around 60-120hz? What are you listening to? That's just as far from truth as it gets.

No. I know what I am saying and I know what I'm defending; I'm defending creativity and individuality.
Also, about taco bell... I am a HUGE mexican food fan. I refuse to eat at Taco Bell and have not eaten there in over a year. I know what real home cooked burritos taste like and I know they blow Taco Bell's shit out of the water. Am I saying Taco Bell isn't really making food? No. What I'm saying is that I prefer a different type of food. What some of you are saying is that anybody who eats at Taco Bell has no taste in food at all. I have a friend who eats with me at this homestyle mexican place and he also eats Taco Bell. He knows good food but he also enjoys Taco Bell.

I cook more than I eat out and the majority of the time, I'm making something mexican. I also refuse to use hamburger meat for my burritos and also stay away from cheese; real burritos don't need cheese to taste great as it is all in the meat and how it's prepared.

But I like Cheese and Avacado too...

The whole taco bell comparison is stupid. Sure I prefer home cooked tacos but I don't always have a grill near me or the time to make food etc... That does not mean I don't have good taste in food it has nothign to do with anything..

I don't think you got the point. If you did, you would see that you just agreed with me. Wow...

A guy a know from work, around 38 years old, has by far the best sounding sq system I've ever heard. He's got an old school Eclipse deck, Peerless drivers in the doors and Seas tweets with custom made passive xovers, 10" ported sub (I forget what kind, but nothin special and not as much bass as I like), all in an old school t-bird. The imaging and the sound of his system is unbelievable.

The dude only listens to rock music, but he said he wanted to hear some good rap in his car, so I tossed some Three 6 Mafia/Hypnotize Minds shit and some Jeezy in there. (Say what you want, but they have very layered beats with a lot of different sounds) After tuning and adjusting his settings on his h/u, the shit sounded amazing. He says his system just sounds so much better now, and more well-rounded.

All you old timers that haven't heard any well-produced rap music...well, they don't just use Casio keyboards and the same 808 hit for every song anymore. (fukk the songs on the radio)

It's not your fault that the retards that bump around your area listen to shit that sucks balls or have bad sounding subs. Not all people who mainly listen to rap have no ear for sq, or bad taste. If your system sounds good for rock and country music, but doesn't sound just as good listening to good quality well-produced rap songs, then there's something lacking in your system. (and vice versa)

x2

They don't HAVE to be any more than jazz and SQ go hand in hand. There are well produced rap albums just like there are garbage jazz albums. What you will typically find though is that the recording quality on rap is not stellar, compression is heavily used and that the "sound" is totally manufactured by the producer.

I like real instruments actually played in the studio or on stage for each track not sampled and looped or wholly generated in a synth. I know that there are good rap records out there but there is so much garbage in the way of finding it that it isn't worth it to me to try.
