Spray-on truck bed liner

I was thinking about using the spray-on truck bedline to cover an enclosure for a friend; however, before I start spraying, what kind of prep work is needed? I'd assume this stuff masks **** near all minor imperfections, as I'd imagine it's fairly thick/textured. How much do I need? How many coats? What sort of prep work is needed?

Thanks in advance

Pretty much like painting really, it does hide some of the imperfections but not all. Tends to stick to a primered / painted surface better than the mdf itself. Last one I covered with liner was for a single 12" in a boat. Took 4 cans of the spray to get it the way I wanted it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

from my experince if you want a smoother look, spray it on, and if you want a more rugged, textured look use a roller

never used it on wood tho...

eh? it sticks to metal, i never tried it on wood
It has a tendency to flake off of wood. I thought by your post you had tried it . Guess I'm the only idjit who has //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

yeah i sprayed like 5 coats on a box. flaked off so i sanded it down with some 500 grit paper and i am now happy with it.

Mine has the bedliner crap on here and it stays on fine. The car audio dude I bought it from said that there is a layer if fiberglass over the wood then they sprayed over the fiberglass. I don't know if it's true or not. It the Pro box Super Bass series. I think it's a d*mn good box for a pre-fab.

I used rubberized undercoating for my box. sticks very well.

That stuff will not flake off. only way you are getting it off is eather sand blast it or sand paper and some elbow grease.

Only thing is I dont know how it would stand up to marks ect... like bedliner would.

I use undercoating sometimes for a sealer on the inside of the enclosure . It tends to stay softer than the bedliner and shows little marks and scratches after a while //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
