sports luxary car a good investment?

i have more money that just the bonus i was just going to use part of it and put cash down and im not in no way shape or form trying to compare these cars these are my 3 favorite cars and im just trying to see if i will be able to afford it financially
OHH, I see.

Well, BMW= Super expensive in the long and short run..

being that i dont kno where i am going to be stationed and for how long a house isn't that practical at the moment just looking for a toy

Buy a piece of property, and just let it sit, and spend less on a car.

Make a bunch of money on it when you get settled, and buy a house with that money.

Ok so heres the deal in the coming months i will be able to purchase my first vehicle on my own i am in the military so i have very minimanl cost of living expenses. i.e. cell phone, eating out, etc. i received 26,000 bonus which i will get half up front and the rest broken down into my check. the cras i was considering are a used 04-06 bmw 645ci, 06-07 dodge charger srt8, and the 03-04 cobra. i really want something like this http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=238507791&dealer_id=571363&car_year=2004&num_records=25&model=645CI&make3=ASTON&systime=&make2=JAG&start_year=2000&engine=&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&certified=&fuel=&body_code=0&search_type=both&distance=0&marketZipError=false&model3=DB7&model2=JAGXK8&color3=&color2=WHITE&search_lang=en&first_record=26&make=BMW&color=BLACK&keywords_display=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=70734&advanced=y&end_year=2006&pager.offset=25&transmission=&doors=&max_price=42000&cardist=270so would it be wise to put say 6-7 down and finance the rest to help my credit score which isnt bad i just don't have any credit history
Is any car a good investment ?
Answer: No ...

They depreciate greatly, cost a great deal of money to run (insurance, maintenance, fuel, etc.), and break down from time to time requiring usually costly repairs.

If you're looking for an investment, buy a cheap car and look into real estate ...

P.S. You might want to invest in a spell checker ...

Depends on how you look at it, a lot of classic cars are a good investment and sell for a lot at auctions. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
yeah but you're looking at 03's and up lol.. and to make a return on a car you usually need to improve something like restore it etc..

but i do see what you're saying. my dad has a '64 corvette that he bought back in the day and now it is worth alot more.

never thought about that but with the way the real estate market is looking im still kind of iffy and as far as upkeep on the beemer i am a pretty good mechanic so most problems i should be able to fix

If you can do the work yourself, then the only real thing to worry about is parts. I had one a few years ago and barely had any trouble with it. Was the best running car I ever owned, it handled great also.

since you probably won't get much of a chance to drive the car, I would just invest the money. Go to a credit union near you and see what kind of high-yield accounts are available (money market accounts are in the toilet right now, but when I talked to my banker recently, she showed me some accounts (special type of CD iirc) that had 4+% interest rates and you could choose a 6,12, or 18 month term to leave your money in there (obviously, a longer term means a higher interest rate). Put all of the extra money you earn into accounts like this, and when you get out you can go buy a nice sport-lux without financing it. Buying a car (other than a collector) is one of the worst financial investments out there. And since you probably won't have a chance to drive the car, there's no "happiness" return either. No sense in buying a car now to let it sit for several years. When you get out, you'll have more money to buy the car you want, and the cars you're looking at now will be cheaper.
