Where are these "new mods" you've been talking about? That's one thing that everyone has been wanting but you're too busy changing how the site looks and adding ads and now this idea. If someone wants to promote their business they can just do what MOT did and change their username into the the name of their business and put a link to their site in their sig.

Sounds like the site needs an option to search either the while forum, members post, threads or Sponsor thread and post. That would solve the search issue.

Goob, it's going to be a double edged sword. If you go for this, you're going to get a shit ton of emails from whining paying members complaining about other vendors or just regular users for promoting products. Then they're going to want to get you to delete threads, edit posts....etc. You start doing that here and their will be rioting and alot of people leaving.

Im very respectful of the fact that you've not done this so far with Ant. Collectively as a forum, we all know he's a douchebag. Im sure he probably bitches to you already about what members say on here. Don't loose that integrity - implementing this I think would just amplify the possibility of it with paying members.

We all already have our roles to play. The general member will dislike the increase in complexity and 'clutter', and the move away from the idea of a private forum to discuss products outside the advertising world. Some of the sponsors will like the system, others will not chose to take advantage of it. And you will like the increased revenue. The only question is exactly how that all will balance out. We cant answer that for you. You cant even take much worthwhile information away from this group of drama queens. Oh no what if a bunch of people complain they will leave the site forever?... that is already a daily routine for a lot of people here.

Im inclined to say my biggest problem with this idea is the increased intrusion by advertising. I believe its that detachment from mainstream advertising and marketing that makes forums like this popular. Its a dangerous knob to adjust on your instrument panel of options, if turned too far in one direction it could do a lot of damage.

you use far to many words to make a simple point. I wonder what you are trying to overcompensate for. You could get rid of the bold part and the same point would be made.
