SPL box

on WinIDS with 3.5cubic with 4 4" ports tuned to 45hz puts port length at 16.26 with max spl @ 130.779 @ 52hz does that sound ok? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blush.gif.99bc659ee2012b7d826165e26fb5eebe.gif
no 130.779 db's is low

with 2 10's u should atleast be in the 140's

i did 142.5db's with 2 fosgate he2 10's and i did 142.3db's with 2 jl 10w3's

and that was in a bandpass box tuned at 35hz with 1200-1500watts powering them

i know i could have hit a higher number if i made my port lenght smaller

but from what i know about spl boxes.....u need to make a large box and use large ports.

1.5cubes and atleast 40square inches of port per 10 ..as far as power i know u have a good amount on tap....

He is referring to the "theoretical" number WinISD spits out. This doesn't take into consideration cabin gain. I still don't see it being astronomically high, but probably a good bit higher than 130.

1.5cubes per with 40square inches of port per puts the tuning somewhere around 59hz if im not mistaken doesnt that sound a bit high?

it depends on the port lenght.....when i had my box metered i had 47square inches but my port was 20inches long to get me down to 35hz

the shorter the port length the higher the freq..the longer the port the lower the freq.

40 square inches of port is the OPENING of the port.... 10x4=40......10 tall 4 wide. it could be 5 inches long and ahve 40 sq inches of port, or be 439023475 miles long and have 40 sq in. of port.

FOUR (4 ) inch aero ports = 50.25 square inches of port.

ok last post here im know im retarded.

check my math on this

you'll probably gain more SPL by using aeroports as opposed to slot ports. Slot ports could cause standing waves in the port (air that doesnt leave the box), hence lowering your SPL.

Ask one of the R guru's on the forum what you should do (tommyk, spkrman, sblazer or whoever else). They'd be more help than anyone. They've done extensive testing with every size R i do believe
